We manage a number of social media accounts with clients – I say ‘with’ clients, as it is ‘with’ rather than ‘for’.

Keeping your content effective and relevant to your business needs you to work with your social media team. We need to know what is going on in your company to help us keep your social media presence lively and personal.

So, if you are about to outsource your social media presence, remember those managing your feeds will really be helped by your input. Let them know if you have new services or product you want to shout about. Maybe you are attending or speaking at an event. Are the team having some fun in the office, celebrating a birthday or enjoying a social event?

Sending your social media team images, information or short video clips will really help your networks get to know more about the people behind your brand and help to personalise their experience with your company.

Developing a social media strategy is an absolute given – as is linking it to your overall communications strategy. In fact, do not write a word until you have matched your social PR with your business objectives!

We encourage the businesses we work with to log in to their social media feeds and share information as it happens - loading images at an event or conference is a perfect example. The feed will be ‘in the moment’. The image can be linked immediately to the event, by using the event hashtag and you can tag those in the image as well.

Don’t forget that the fun hashtags can be really effective - #MotivationMonday, #ThrowbackThursday or #FridayFunny. They all give you great opportunities to share personal information.
